“Surfing is like coming home for me,” commented someone on this year’s Wavetours Advent calendar. That’s how it is for us every year: from May onwards, people from all over Germany set off to spend their summer on the French Atlantic coast. Whether it’s Moliets, Vieux Boucau, St. Girons, Bias or Seignosse. We enjoy delicious food like baguettes for breakfast or wraps in the evening, surf competitions, relaxed evenings in good company and get to know wonderful people, but also meet old friends of the #wavetoursfamily again. Coming to a Wavetours camp is somehow like coming home - for 25 years. 25 years is a quarter of a century! Simply incredible.
This year was incredible again: we rocked Seignosse with 1350 guests at the adh-open, had a fantastic 2019 season and opened our new surf house in Morocco in October. Yes, you heard right, there is now a Wavetours surf house in Morocco, where you can expect the usual Wavetours quality and good surf spots. There is also some more news: Many of you have been asking about it and now the time has come: From 2019, Wavetours will not only run surf camps in France and Morocco, but we are also opening a surf house in Portugal! The camp leader in Ericeira will be our Zackzack-Jens, who many of you will know from St. Girons. The Surf Camp Portugal can only be good under such management and we look forward to welcoming you there soon.
As you can see, 25 years of Wavetours does not mean standing still, we are continuing to develop. Not only is our selection of surf camps growing, but the #wavetoursfamily is also growing and growing. We are delighted to welcome Junior World Champion and 2018 German Champion Rachel Presti and her sister Audrey Presti as new team riders! We are delighted that you are now a part of us and are excited to see what the new season brings.
Speaking of the season, our France camps will open next year from June 8th. You can book now and get a big early bird discount. There is also some news for you here:- In France you can now choose the glamping option in some camps. That means goodbye air mattress and chaos in the tent, bring on a nice wooden bed with a mattress and additional storage space in cupboards! - We are also now offering you more comfort in the Junior Surf Academy: Here you can now book mobile homes instead of accommodation in a tent. - Regarding surfing: From 2019, every intermediate/advanced surfer can borrow equipment from us - even if no surfing course has been booked.
But of course not everything changes: Some things should stay as they are. That’s why we are all the more pleased to be able to welcome Thommy (St. Girons Family Camp), David (St. Girons 24plus), Gregor (Moliets) and Ann-Sophie (Seignosse) back as camp leaders in the new year! Camp leader Nic (Bias) is unfortunately saying goodbye and we wish him all the best for the future!
Also unchanged is that Wavetours is a sponsor at the SurfDM and the adh-open. You can already secure one of the coveted places at the adh-open in Seignosse. It will definitely be a great party again and we are looking forward to a fantastic event. But the adh-open will not be the only highlight next year, of course we are also very excited about a new season - hopefully with lots of beautiful waves and wonderful people.
We would like to thank our team, who give every camp that certain something and are always there with enthusiasm. Our office staff, who do their best every day to organize the perfect vacation for you. And of course you, the best guests in the world. Without you, Wavetours would not be what it is today. Hopefully we will see you next year, here’s to the next 25 years of #wavetoursfamily!
I got to know Wavetours when I was 13. They gave me the opportunity to spend the summers in the French waves, let me stay in the camps and supported me a lot on my way. Wavetours doesn’t just do surf camps, they support talent and really do a lot for surfing! Happy Birthday Wavetours! Here’s to at least another 25 years! - Arne Bergwinkl (German Champion 2013/2016/2017)
The best friends, lots of nonsense, surfing, beach and sea - the best 10 years of my life! - Andreas Brendt (former camp leader and author of Boarderlines and Fuck you happiness)
Hey wavetours team, we at surfers mag wish you all the best for your 25th anniversary! Without you, the German surf scene would probably only be half as strong, because thanks to your courses and camps, thanks to the adh-Open and the DM, surfing in Germany is what it is today. Thank you for the always good cooperation and we look forward to the next 25 years with you! - Your surfers team! Simon & Vincent (Surfersmag)
Dear Wavetours, I wish you all the best for your 25th birthday. When you were 14 years old, I met you for the first time in St. Girons. I got to know your whole family and immediately felt at home. Since then, I have come to visit you every year and we always have such a great time together! The perfect waves, until your arms fall off, the cold Kronenbourg afterwards in the hammock, the relaxed camp atmosphere, running barefoot, the scent of pine, the campfires on the beach, the wild parties and the hangover surf at dawn have shaped me ever since. I look forward to seeing you again. See you soon - Vincent Scholz (2nd Surf DM 2016)
Wavetours is my little home in the South of France and the team is my roommates.
No matter what the weather is like or whether you were partying the day before, you will always find someone in the camp who wants to have a surf session.
The table tennis rounds are epic! Congratulations to you! – Marc Piwko (German Champion 2015)
The DWV and its long-term partner are celebrating their company anniversary.
To mark the 25th anniversary of Wavetours, we are also celebrating a ten-year partnership in which Wavetours has actively supported DWV #betweenthewaves.
Here’s to more joint projects.
Congratulations Wavetours, your DWV – Philipp Kuretzky (President of the German Surfing Association)
