Discover the best that Cantabria and our Langre Surfhouse have to offer - whether it’s surfing on fantastic beaches, culinary delights or exciting excursions in the surrounding area. Here you will find the best experiences and activities for an unforgettable time in the north of Spain!

It’s worth reading through - the best insider tips are at the end!

Highlight #1: Surfhouse

Our Surfhouse Langre is located in the Cantabria region in the north of Spain - also known as Switzerland by the sea. The idyllic village is still relatively unknown, which proves to be a great advantage: even in high season, the Playa de Langre beach remains pleasantly quiet and you can enjoy the waves in peace and quiet in the line-up. The beach is only an 8-minute walk away, so you can get into the water quickly. The Surfhouse Langre is the perfect place for solo travellers, couples, friends or small groups looking for a relaxed yet active break. The surroundings offer the ideal mix of surfing, chilling out and adventures, so that everyone gets their money’s worth.

In the morning, you can enjoy your breakfast on the sunny terrace and get in the mood for the day ahead. After a surf trip or an exploration tour through the Cantabrian countryside, the terrace is the perfect place to enjoy the sunset in the evening with a delicious dinner or a cool drink. The large garden invites you to relax with hammocks, a swing and cosy seating areas - the ideal retreat to unwind.

Even on days when the weather doesn’t quite play ball, there are plenty of opportunities to have a good time. The communal area with sofas and seating areas invites you to enjoy sociable evenings, whether it’s a film night, a fun game or exciting conversations with new people from the Surfhouse.

Highlight #2: Accommodation

The Surfhouse Langre has everything your heart desires - double rooms, triple rooms and quadruple rooms. Cosy rooms with comfort and charm: You stay in lovingly furnished rooms, all with their own bathroom and WC.

Double room with private bathroom
The double room can be used as a single or double/twin room. Perfect for single travellers, good friends or couples. Here you have a cosy retreat after surf lessons or an exciting day with the other guests in the Surfhouse.

Triple room with private bathroom
Are there three of you travelling or are you a small family? Perfect - the triple room offers plenty of space and you can make yourselves really comfortable here. If you book for three, you have the room exclusively. Otherwise you can share the room with other guests.

Quad room with private bathroom
Of course there is a shared room in the Surfhouse - a quadruple room - ideal for larger groups or a great way to make friends. If not fully booked, you may share the room with other guests.

Included: Bed linen/towels.

Highlight #3: Meals

Start the day full of flavour and finish it relaxed: Our chef conjures up fresh, varied dishes every day that will delight you. Whether on the sunny terrace with a coffee in the morning or in our cosy surf bar in the evening - meals taste twice as good here!

Full board
With our full board, you are fully catered for. A hearty breakfast will give you the energy you need in the morning, and you can put together a packed lunch for the beach. In the evening, a delicious 3-course menu awaits you six days a week, introducing you to the flavours of the region and international highlights. Vegetarian and vegan options are of course also on the menu.

Hunger is also catered for in between meals - you’ll find tasty snacks in the camp bar. Hot and cold drinks are of course also available there - important: only CASH PAYMENT possible! In the evening, you can try out a variety of cocktails and other delicious drinks at the camp bar.

Highlight #4: Surf lessons & surf conditions

All surf courses are led by licensed coaches and consist of a mixture of practical and theory sessions. In theory, you will learn a lot about wave science and get useful tips from the local surf instructors that you can put into practice. Each week of the course runs from Monday to Friday and, depending on the conditions, you can hire equipment at the weekend for a fee and practise what you have learnt. The bay of Langre offers ideal conditions for learning to surf or developing your surfing skills thanks to the particularly organised waves.

Children can take part in surfing lessons from the age of 7 (provided they can swim).

Course structure
Beginner / Basic - This surf course is for all participants who have either never stood on a board before or have only done so a few times. The organised and constant waves right up to the beach offer ideal conditions for beginners - here you learn the take-off in peace and quiet.

Intermediate - Neither beginner nor advanced? Then the Intermediate course is just right for you - here you build on what you have already learnt, surf your first green waves and learn your first turns.

Advanced - Are shoulder-high waves, the take-off and the rules of the line-up no problem for you? Then the Advanced course is ideal for you - here you will learn new manoeuvres and improve them. As a little bonus, there are early morning and sunset sessions. (Advanced courses only take place if there are enough registrations)

All participants receive a softboard and wetsuit in the right size.

The sheltered location of the beach bay ‘Playa de Langre’ offers ideal conditions for beginners and intermediates. You can look forward to low currents, organised and consistent waves - and as a bonus, the water is also warm in summer. The sandbanks mean that there are various beach breaks throughout the bay, where right and left-hand waves are created.

What could be better than an empty line-up with organised and consistent waves all the way to the beach?

Highlight #5: Activities in the Surfhouse

Whether you want to test your balance on the slackline, try out new tricks on the trampoline or compete in a round of table tennis - there’s something for everyone here. If you want to improve your surfing skills on land, you can try out the indoor boards and work on your balance and stability.

For even more action, you can let off steam playing volleyball on the beach while the sea breeze provides the perfect refreshment. And when the day comes to an end, there’s nothing better than ending the evening relaxing by the campfire on the beach - with good music, good conversation and the sound of the waves in the background.

You can also simply grab a skateboard or longboard and start rolling right in front of the surf house. Perfect for transferring your surfing feeling to the asphalt or simply cruising leisurely through the neighbourhood.

Yogalates
As a balance to surfing, Jacqui has been offering Yogalates at Surfhouse Langre since 2008 - a combination of yoga and Pilates. The courses take place twice a week in small groups.

Massages
After intensive surf sessions, our qualified chiropractor and osteopath Sabrina provides relaxing massages. After long or simply unusual surf sessions, it can happen that your body is tired and your muscles cramp - massages are a great and helpful way to loosen up the muscles and support regeneration.

Highlight #6: Activities for nature lovers

For all those who not only love the waves, but also nature, there is plenty to discover around our surf house! Whether on two wheels, on foot or exploring the breathtaking coastal landscape - nature lovers will get their money’s worth here.

Mountain bikes
You can hire mountain bikes at the Surfhouse for a small fee and explore the surrounding area on your own. Ride along the spectacular coastline, through green hills or explore the charming villages in the surrounding area. The region offers a variety of cycle paths, from relaxed routes to challenging trails for adrenaline junkies.

Way of St James
A stage of the famous Camino del Norte, one of the most beautiful coastal routes on the Way of St James, starts right outside the Surfhouse. The hike takes you through green hills, along spectacular cliffs and through picturesque villages.

Coastal hike with sea views
The impressive cliffs and beaches of Cantabria make for unforgettable hikes.

Especially recommended:

  • Ruta de los Acantilados – A spectacular cliff path with panoramic views of the sea.
  • Hike to Playa de Langre - a hidden natural paradise with crystal-clear water.
  • Explore the Costa Quebrada - a wild, rugged coastline with unique rock formations.

Highlight #7: Two coastal towns with a surf vibe

Only a hike along the impressive coast separates the surf house from the neighbouring coastal towns of Somo and Loredo. The walk there is a little longer, but the spectacular views of the sea and the cliffs make every minute worthwhile. If you don’t want to walk back after your exploration tour, you can take an Uber for around €10.

Somo
Somo is the surf mecca of the region and offers numerous surf shops where you can buy or hire boards, wetsuits and accessories. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced surfer, you’ll find everything you need for the perfect wave here. If you prefer to take it easy, you can sit down on the beach promenade in Somo, have a coffee and watch the surfers.

Loredo
Loredo, on the other hand, is a little quieter and impresses with its relaxed flair. There are cosy cafés, bars and restaurants here where you can fortify yourself after a long hike or a day at the beach. The Mirador de Loredo, a viewpoint with breathtaking views of the sea and the coast, is particularly worth a visit. For those who want to continue shredding on land, there is a skate park in Loredo that is perfect for a short session after surfing.

Whether for a day trip, a short skate session or just a stroll through the small streets - Somo and Loredo are definitely worth a visit!

Highlight #8: Markets, restaurants & cafés

Mercado de la Esperanza (Santander)
A traditional market in the heart of Santander, offering fresh seafood, regional cheeses and seasonal fruit and vegetables. An ideal place to discover local specialities and experience the hustle and bustle of the city.

Restaurante El Pajar (Langre)
A charming restaurant serving traditional Cantabrian cuisine. We particularly recommend the fish dishes and the cosy atmosphere.

Restaurante Torre Galizano (Galizano)
Located just outside Langre, this restaurant offers a creative interpretation of regional cuisine in a rustic setting.

Bar El Cruce (Galizano)
A popular bar among locals, known for its tapas and friendly atmosphere.

Café El Muelle (Santander)
This café in Centro Botín not only offers excellent coffee, but also a selection of delicious pastries and a beautiful view of Santander’s harbour.

Sidrería El Pasaje de los Nobles (Santillana del Mar)
A traditional restaurant specialising in local ciders and Cantabrian specialities. Ideal for a culinary excursion into the history of the region.

Highlight #9: Culture & charm of Cantabria

Cantabria has a lot more to offer than fantastic beaches and perfect waves - there is also plenty to discover culturally! The region is rich in historic villages, impressive architecture and lively towns that are perfect for a day trip. Whether medieval flair, student life or maritime city flair - everyone will find their personal highlight here.

Santillana del Mar
A real gem is the medieval village of Santillana del Mar, with its cobbled alleyways, historic buildings and charming squares that seem to be from another era. The well-preserved architecture and tranquil atmosphere make it one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. The collegiate church of Santa Juliana, one of the most important Romanesque buildings in the region, is particularly worth a visit, as are the many small artisan shops and cafés that invite you to linger. A stroll through this picture-book village feels like travelling back in time.

Santander
Those who like a more urban feel should not miss out on a visit to Santander. The capital of Cantabria combines a beautiful coastal landscape with an elegant old town, excellent restaurants and lively markets. Particularly worth seeing are the Palacio de la Magdalena, perched high on a peninsula, and the bay of Santander, which is one of the most beautiful in Spain. Once a week, we offer a shuttle to Somo, from where you can take the ferry to Santander for around €6 - the perfect opportunity for a relaxed day trip into the city!

Comillas
For a lively, student atmosphere, a trip to Comillas is worthwhile. The city not only impresses with its vibrant life, but also with its impressive architecture - including the ‘El Capricho’ designed by Antoni Gaudí, one of the few works by the famous architect outside of Catalonia.

Whether it’s winding alleyways, impressive architecture or maritime city flair - Cantabria offers countless opportunities for exciting day trips!

Wavetours testimonials

Really great surf camp trip! Friendly, helpful crew members. Delicious food all week long. Beautiful facilities!
Highly recommended.

Great organisation, really friendly staff and very pleasant surf instructors. I really enjoyed the week!

Unforgettable surfing holiday! An incredibly beautiful camp where you feel at home after just two days. Super location and a really lovely team. Definitely go back.

I think the agency is very good because it provided us with great support and advice in our search for suitable accommodation for a family. Due to problems with the flight, we arrived very late at night. Here, too, our check-in was seamlessly prepared in collaboration with WAVETOURS and the local agent. It’s perfect and that’s why we give it five stars and would gladly use the service again!

Matthias about Wavetours

Recommendations for the Wavetours Montalivet surf camp. Great family activity for surfing and an active family holiday. The camp is really nice, well organised and the crew are friendly and helpful.

Super surf camp with first-class instructors! The food was very good and even vegan. Lots of cool evenings and events and an extremely great team!
Would love to come back!

Julian about Montalivet Family

A lovely new family surf camp that opened for its first season this summer in Montalivet. Very nicely done, with everything you need. The focus here is primarily on children, for whom there is plenty on offer – from batik, crafts, table tennis and trampolining, etc. Children of all ages will find something to suit them here and quickly make friends to play with.

If you want, you can of course book a surfing course, yoga or mountain bike tours. In the evenings, there are activities for the whole family (completely informal), from games nights to karaoke or sunset walks.

The location is great, as it’s only a 5-minute bike ride or 15-minute walk to the village, where there is a fantastic market every day from 8 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and lots of small shops, cafés and restaurants. The beach is about 15 minutes away, or 30-40 minutes with a toddler, so a bicycle is useful (you can also hire one at the camp) or a handcart or similar.

Last but not least: the food is varied and delicious. The team are super friendly and the camp management are always approachable and absolutely open to suggestions.
Highly recommended for a family week!

Katharina about Montalivet Family

It was our first time travelling with Wavetours. Everything was great, a fantastic team on site, we felt welcome and it was just brilliant… The surfing lessons were great and the instructors made the lessons fun and entertaining, and everyone learned how to surf. We’ll be going back again next year.

Great holiday with Wavetours. Very nice resort, great beach, super team and great surfing course.

Frank about Seignosse Family

This year was a magical and varied yoga experience in the enchanted forest with Debbie! Yoga has always been my oasis and time-out from everyday life. However, Debbie’s design of the training and her personal energy and charisma, combined with the surroundings of the location, created a unique atmosphere for tension and, even more so, for relaxation. I haven’t experienced anything like this in a long time :D
Thank you, Wavetours, for Debbie, and thank you, Debbie, for your dedication! I would be delighted to see you again next year in Seignosse ;)
