Intro
"Ayubowan"
– welcome to the pearl of the Indian Ocean, the tear of India, the Eastern
Tahiti – Sri Lanka! Hardly bigger than Switzerland or Ireland, it is still as
rich in variety as a whole continent. Owing to different influences during the
colonial time, the locals are open-minded and the majority speak rather good
English. You will be received with open arms at all times as the Sinhalese are very hospitable people. Small markets and shops can be found on every corner
and your purse will love the good prices! In the region from Hikkaduwa to
Matara you can surf from October to April. In Hikkaduwa you will find a reef
and beach break that are named after the village.
